Mixed media artist Al Díaz’ latest solo exhibition, "Analog Pulse" manifests his lifelong fascination with the 3-dimensional, built world around him. This body of work includes objects of all kinds as well as imagery centered on physical experiences and the surrounding architecture of urban life. After having grown up in New York City’s streets in the 1960s and 70s, Díaz spent more than 30 years during his career as a builder, honing skills for constructing environmental spaces. This exhibit highlights his curiosity and craftsmanship as it relates to fabrication and the human experience. Elements and sculptures on display at VanDerPlas Gallery this November include a retrospective of painted wood carvings, assemblages, musical percussion instruments, trading card prototypes (from his upcoming series 'NYC STREET GAMES' with House of Roulx), and other objects from the past and present.
