Joey Mars is a staple in the Boston music and art scenes and has been creating personal and commercial work in various mediums for the last 3 decades. He is a counterculture icon and true DIY spirit.
"I have several styles to my work. It has an inspiration and back drop in underground comics, album covers and 60s rock poster art via influences such as R. Crumb, Rick Griffin and the San Fran Zap Crew, Hot Rod Monster artist Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth, Mad Magazine's Sergio Argones. I love Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Space Ghost, The Banana Splits and Scooby Doo. Mix that with influences from the New York City 80's cats Basquiat, Sonic Youth, Jarmusch, and Arto Lindsay, a sprinkle of Rembrandt, Picasso, Pollack, Warhol and Dali and you get some of my twisted stuff. I am also very much inspired by nature and the mysteries of life."
