Raoul Dufy, a French Fauve and later decorative artist, was renowned for vibrant, playful paintings celebrating modern life. Born in Le Havre in 1877, he developed a distinctive style characterized by light-hearted scenes, bold colors, and fluid brushstrokes. Initially influenced by Impressionism, he evolved towards a more graphic, simplified approach, creating joyful depictions of leisure, landscapes, and urban scenes. A versatile artist, Dufy also excelled in textile design, ceramics, and illustration, embodying the decorative spirit of early 20th-century French art until his death in 1953.
