Robert McCall (1919-2010) was an acclaimed American artist known for his space-themed artwork and postage stamp designs. He served as NASA's official artist, creating vivid depictions of space exploration that captured humanity's cosmic aspirations. McCall designed six U.S. postage stamps commemorating the Apollo moon landings, including the iconic "First Man on the Moon" stamp of 1969. His distinctive style blended realism with optimistic futurism, often featuring dramatic perspectives of spacecraft and celestial bodies. Beyond stamps, he created murals for NASA, the Smithsonian, and other institutions, including the famous six-story "The Space Mural - A Cosmic View" at the National Air and Space Museum.
