Jappy Agoncillo

Juan Paolo “Jappy” Agoncillo is an illustrator, muralist, and painter from Pasig City, Philippines. From an early age, he fell in love with the concept of heroes and myths and legends, themes which greatly inform not only his work, but his very own philosophies as well.

Jappy’s work is greatly influenced by his love for stories and heroes, stemming from his being brought up on comic books, television, and skateboarding. He adopted a highly illustrative style early on, gradually developing this over the years into the work he is known today for, experimenting with different styles and studies to build a more flexible repertoire. With dynamic visuals and bold colors, Jappy delivers themes of power, struggle, tenacity and resilience with an emphasis on characters and expressions - akin to that of classic comic book covers and old film posters. With his work, he wishes to inspire others the same way his heroes had inspired him.
