Born and raised in Chicago, self-taught Jake Merten began his artistic career in Summer of 2012 after moving to Los Angeles. Since then he has grown to working in fashion desgin, digital design, art direction and traveling to paint large-scale murals and private installations all over the country, specializing in freehand aerosol mural work. Merten debuted his first solo show in his home-town of Chicago in Spring of 2015 while he took a brief residency in the city. Currently residing once again in Los Angeles, Merten continues to contribute local and national mural work and showcase his talents at mural festivals, live-painting events, fashion and music showcases, and gallery exhibitions.
POW! WOW! Worcester is produced by a collaborative organizing committee comprised of passionate members of the local nonprofit, business, creative and collegiate community. The group produces immersive cultural experiences around a 10 day creative festival in the heart of New England. Since 2016, POW! WOW! Worcester has curated nearly 60 murals in addition to pop-up events, custom installations and other experiences centered around music, fashion, culture and visual arts.
