June of 87 is a self expression, life project which incorporates elements of abstract, surreal, conceptual and contemporary composition using photography as the primary medium.
"My ideas stem from movement and growth. I look around and observe. I search for texture, and I search for subjects that are constantly changing and growing. Plants and flowers are great for this. An individual plants a seed, this seed grows into a plant, this plant blooms, sometimes into a flower. Now, we see this life having a very specific interaction with the environment and light, through photosynthesis. Presentation of life begins.
I conceptualize this idea of growth, life, presentation, into my projects. These small worlds and man made portals, a glimpse of creation. Consider the process it takes to create these pieces of life. The tangible examples of cultivation each flower represents. This set of rules, these careful decisions made to create life, and of course the final outcome, serve as my foundation. 'Flower 1,' 'Flower 2,' 'Flower 3…' all depict the action of growth, sustaining life, and the beginning process of death.
