MATTHEW GRABELSKY creates realistic oil paintings depicting people with animal heads, often riding the subway in his native New York City. As a child, Matthew was captivated by the fantastical stories his parents read to him and developed a fascination with the animal kingdom during frequent family trips to the zoo. An Art History class ignited his passion for Old Master and 19th Century European paintings. This led him to study oil painting techniques and inspired him to create his contemporary human-animal hybrid characters.
