Heather Gauthier

"While I do appreciate and sometimes implement symbolism or visual metaphor with some intended meaning, my creative drive is fundamentally motivated by my need to invent and by my deep love for aesthetics. Put simply, beauty alone makes a work of art important for me."

Heather’s style is the culmination of experiences and influences in urban and rural settings. Her popular animal portraits are often described as "anthropomorphic realism": wild creatures in a civilized, very human setting. After a decade of living and working in Chicago (above a pizza parlor) and Africa (on a strawberry farm), Heather and her family of boys live in San Antonio, Texas.
