LURK

“I guess I like my work to be fun and not taken too serious, enjoyed for what it is. I also like it when people take what I’ve done and make up stories based around the characters, it becomes theirs.”

LURK aka Russ Morland, is a entrepreneur extraordinaire. He moved to the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island in 2000, started tattooing in 2004, and he opened his shop The Electric Umbrella in 2011. He loves to tattoo, and is also passionate about his low-brow fine art as LURK. Morland paints vastly imaginative scenes and creatures, which he calls "LURKS." He has stated that his artwork serves as a means to "exorcise the demons." As such, his pieces tend to have a darker, creepy element; however, his universe still retains its fun, silly atmosphere. Russ is very much involved in his community, playing a major role in the local Nanaimo art scene and the world of skateboarding where he has garnered the admiration of thousands of loyal LURKers worldwide.
